A Faith-Filled Send-Off for our Graduating Students

As the academic year comes to a close, graduating students from the UTSC & Centennial College Catholic Chaplaincies joined their peers from campus ministries across the Archdiocese of Toronto for a special celebration marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Held at St. Paul’s Basilica, the annual Graduation Mass brought together students, families, chaplains, campus ministers, and supporters to give thanks for the blessings, friendships, and spiritual growth experienced throughout their post-secondary years.

Celebrated by His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo on the Memorial of St. Joseph the Worker, the Mass offered graduates an opportunity to reflect on God’s faithfulness as they prepare to enter the next stage of their lives.

For many students, the celebration provided encouragement during a season often filled with uncertainty.

“The Mass was such a surreal experience, as the time before graduation holds uncertainty about both my academic results and what I would do in the future,” shared UTSC graduate Galen Angeles.

“Attending that Grad Mass was a huge relief as I felt God’s grace through the people who celebrated it with me.”

Following the Mass, graduates gathered for a reception where they connected with fellow students from campus ministries across the Archdiocese, shared memories, and celebrated the impact that campus ministry has had on their lives. 

For Centennial College graduate Joseph Rais, the experience was particularly memorable.

“It was a wonderful experience for me. I had the privilege of bringing the gifts to the Cardinal during the Offertory, which was especially meaningful as someone named Joseph on the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker.”

“Later, at the reception, I had the opportunity to connect and take photos with many amazing people, including Cardinal Leo.”

Campus ministry plays an important role in helping students encounter Christ during their college and university years. Through prayer, faith formation, service opportunities, retreats, and community life, students are supported as they deepen their relationship with God and discover how He is calling them to serve the world.

As we celebrate our graduates, we give thanks for their leadership, friendship, and witness within our campus ministry community. We pray that the faith they have nurtured during their time with us will continue to guide them in the years ahead.

A Successful Start to the Semester!

This year’s fall kick-off event at the UTSC Chaplaincy drew over twice the number of participants seen in previous years!

Marking a significant increase in engagement, the event welcomed over 70 students for an evening of fun and connection!
Held on Friday, September 20, the event launched the 10th year of the UTSC Chaplaincy and the new semester, setting an exciting tone for the months ahead.
